Acceptable use policy
Last updated:
Every free page is public and shows our name. This policy says what pages built with Nightly may not be used for, how to report a page, and what we do about it. It's part of our terms of use.
What pages may not be used for
Don't use Nightly, or a page we build, for:
- Phishing. Collecting passwords, card numbers, bank details or other login or payment details, or sending people to a page that does.
- Impersonation. Pretending to be, or to be linked to, another business, brand, charity, government body or person.
- Scams and fraud. Fake shops, prize or advance-fee scams, get-rich-quick or pyramid schemes, crypto giveaways, promised investment returns, or offers you don't mean to honour.
- Illegal goods and services. Anything illegal where you or your customers are, including drugs, weapons, counterfeit goods and stolen data, and services that need a licence or authorisation you don't have.
- Adult content. Sexual content, or adult sexual services.
- Hate and harassment. Attacking people for who they are, such as their race, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity. Threats, bullying, or publishing someone's private details.
- Malware. Links to malware, or anything that harms, tracks or takes over a visitor's device.
- Fake reviews and invented proof. Reviews or testimonials that aren't genuine, or that you don't have permission to use. Reviews that were paid for or rewarded, without saying so. Made-up numbers, ratings, awards, client lists or "as seen in" claims.
- Copying another site. Copying another website's words, images, logo, layout or code, or making a page that could be mistaken for another business. A website whose look you like is for direction only.
- Deceptive health or financial claims. Saying something cures, treats or prevents illness, promising weight loss, guaranteeing income or investment returns, or calling something "risk-free". Health, finance and legal businesses may describe their services plainly and truthfully.
- Other people's rights. Using names, trade marks or material you don't have the right to use.
- Getting around our safeguards. Trying to dodge our screening, checks or limits, or using a page's form to send spam or collect data under false pretences.
We decide whether a page breaks this policy. We look at the page, the brief and any report.
How we keep pages safe
We check every brief before we build anything. Rules and an AI model screen it for phishing, impersonation, scams and requests to copy another site. Our QA checks then fail any page with claims that don't come from the owner's own answers.
Screening doesn't catch everything, so reports matter.
How to report a page
- Use the "Report this page" link in the Made with Nightly badge at the bottom of every free page.
- Or use our report form.
- Or email hello@nightlystudio.com.
Tell us the page's web address and what's wrong. If the page copies or impersonates your business, or uses your work, email us so we can reply to you. Tell us who you are and what's yours.
A person reads every report.
What happens next
We aim to take a page down within 4 hours of a valid report, if it breaks this policy. A valid report tells us which page and what's wrong, in enough detail for us to check it.
We may take down a page that looks dangerous, such as a phishing page, while we look into it.
We may also:
- refuse further briefs from the same person or business;
- delete the project;
- keep a record of the page and the report;
- tell the police or other authorities, or a business that's being impersonated.
We'll usually email the page owner to say which rule the page broke, unless the law stops us or telling them would help a scam. If you own the page and think we got it wrong, reply to that email and a person will look again.
